Getting Chewing Gum out of the Carpet

KNOW HOW:  Getting Chewing Gum out of the Carpet

Many people enjoy chewing gum. This delicious treat is said to be a great jaw exercise and a healthier substitute for smoking. But, if you ever dropped a gum on your carpet, you know how annoying it can be. It seems like it sticks to the surface the same second it touches it and your carpet becomes a frustrating mess. If you don-t do anything about it right away and the gum is pressed in the carpet, the situation gets dramatically worse. Calling a professional to help you in those situations might be the best idea, but if you insist on doing the job by yourself, we are here to help you. Follow these simple tricks and gums in the carpet will soon be the thing of the past.

Freezing the gum off
Put several ice cubes in a plastic bag and place the bed directly on the gum. Let it stay for a couple of minutes. When the gum is frozen use a metal knife to remove it from the carpet. Make sure the gum is frozen and not just cold before you try to scrape it off.

Oils
Apply a teaspoon of olive or vegetable oil on the gum and try to pick it up with your fingers. Oil should reduce the stickiness of the gum. The bad thing about this method is that it can leave oil stains, so use it only if none of other methods work.

Vinegar
Vinegar can also help in removing gums. Put some vinegar directly on the gum and let it soak for about 15 minutes. After that, use a metal knife to remove the gum.

Peanut butter
Yes, it is possible. Seems strange, but you can remove gum with peanut butter. Place one teaspoon of butter on the gum and try to remove it with a damp washcloth. It should come off perfectly.
